Production Blog: Finalizing Editing for my Music Video
Hey bloggers, as you may now know I have finished filming my music video. I'm on the last step in completing this music video and it could be the step that makes or breaks the quality of the production. The group has all been working on their own versions of the music video and most of them are using the i movie app on their phones. I've continued my work on CapCut and when the videos finally got through to my phone, I immediately started working. I first joined both parts of filming to create a cohesive piece. I then had to think about how to transition from scene to scene without making the production look robotic. I had to find transitions that made the video appear as natural as possible. I was also considering creating captions for the video to make it easier to watch and understand. I was scared it would make the video end up looking weird and unnatural. I decided against the closed captions and tried focus on creating emotion in my music video. Using adjustments in saturation and tone to exaggerate the different moods and feelings created by the song. I used brighter and warmer colors when the girl was in her younger ages. As the video slowly transitioned, I used colder and dimmer colors to show change, growth and sadness. I felt relatively happy with the result of my adjustments but spent like 20 minutes just adding some finishing touches. I was wondering if I should sound effects to my production, but I decided against it as I felt it would just make it look goofy and silly. What I did decide to do was adjust the reverb and bass and other sliders involving the music to make some parts sound more dramatic and sadder. This created an immersive effect that I found really improved the quality of my production. The finishing touch on my editing was some credits I added to the end with all of our names, which I felt made it official. The credits were typical and just a black screen with white text rolling down to the bottom of the screen. That's all bloggers thank you for reading and have a fabulous day!!
